Michael Standard serves as Studio Librarian at UTC, where he teaches creative technology and collaborates with faculty across the campus to foster students' scholarship and curiosity. His background as a musician, recording engineer, and educator inform his teaching and his academic work. Michael's position in the Studio involves guiding students in technology-focused creative projects, and he works closely with faculty to address technology needs throughout their curricula.
Michael is an active composer, with works performed by the US Air Force Band, Atlantic Brass Quintet, and Four Corners Ensemble, among others. He arranges and composes for scholastic ensembles throughout the year, and he is co-founder of Homegrown New Music Ensemble, a non-profit organization focused on creative placemaking, community partnerships, and interdisciplinary collaboration in artistic work.
