Carolyn Runyon

Biography

Professor Runyon leads a team of faculty and staff archivists, student assistants, volunteers, and interns to acquire, process, preserve, and provide access to rare books, manuscripts, and university archives by providing instruction and reference services, designing exhibits, actively cultivating donors, developing grant proposals, and fostering partnerships with various external projects and organizations, including the joint acquisition, management, and stewardship of the Chattanooga History Collections with the Chattanooga Public Library. She loves to work with interns to develop mission-driven projects in Special Collections and faculty to develop course assignments using and creating primary sources.

Carolyn joined UTC in July 2013 after having worked at the American University in Cairo where she was a key player in an effort to document the January 25 Revolution. She earned her M.L.I.S. in Archives and Records Management from the University of South Carolina and has a B.A. in Archaeology and History from the University of Virginia.
