Human Resources Policy for Educational Assistance for Spouses and Dependent Children
Regular full-time employees, 100% effort, are eligible for a student fee discount for their spouses and dependent children, 26 years of age and under, who have been admitted to the university as undergraduate students through standard admission procedures. Spouses and dependent children of regular part-time employees who have one (1) or more years of regular continuous service with the University of TN working a minimum of fifty percent (50%) time receive a pro rata discount based on the percent of effort currently worked by the employee.
Employees or retirees who qualify for the University of TN student fee discount for spouses and dependent children are also eligible for this discount at any TN Board of Regents institution (including all state supported four year institutions, community colleges, and technical institutes, and area vocational technical schools). If eligible, a spouse or dependent must be admitted to a TN Board of Regents institution as an undergraduate student.
A tuition fee discount form must be completed by the employee, signed by his/her supervisor and forwarded to Human Resources for completion prior to taking classes. The employee is responsible for delivering the completed form to the school where the spouse or dependent is enrolled.
