Term Life offers a death benefit only. Premiums are age banded, which means the premiums increase as the insured grows older. The employee need not participate in order to purchase spouse coverage. Children's coverage is available as a term rider.
During Annual Transfer/Open Enrollment period, employees may:
- Increase coverage by $5,000 (up to a maximum of 5x base salary, or $500,000, whichever is less)
- Increase coverage by more than one $5,000 increment, up to the plan maximum (proof of good health is required). Spouses may also apply to increase coverage by submitting proof of good health.
- Add, change or cancel a child term rider. Please note: Application for coverage to add new dependents must be made within 31 days of the birth or adoption date.
- Request a decrease in coverage for you or your spouse, but coverage may not be reduced below $5,000.
If you've been previously declined for coverage, you may apply for coverage by providing proof of good health.
To enroll or make changes, log into the Minnesota Life website with your ID and password. You will need your Edison ID number, which can be found on your Caremark prescription card.
Your ID: TN + your Edison ID number.
Your password: What you set if you've previously logged in. If you have never logged in, your password is your eight-digit-date of birth (MMDDYYYY) followed by the last four digits of your Social Security number.
