Established in 2019 at the direction of Chancellor Steven R. Angle, the Commission on the Status of Women is part of a strategic focus on increased diversity, inclusion and engagement in all facets of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Commission Recommendations for 2022-23
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Commission on the Status of Women is dedicated to the support of all women on our campus (faculty, staff, and students), regardless of age, race, class, ethnicity, gender identity, disabilities, veteran status, and/or sexual orientation.
The 2021-22 Commission is making the following recommendations based on both qualitative and quantitative data, as well as individual stories shared, over the past year. There are a lot of wonderful things to celebrate in terms of equity on campus. These recommendations are meant to continue and enhance the progress being made across the UTC community.
- Explore alternatives to course learning evaluations for faculty due to the biased nature towards women and minorities.
- Install changing stations in all family restrooms on campus, at least one per building.
- Provide more lactation stations on campus with appropriate signage in the buildings and on the campus maps.
- Review the process for which all important university information is delivered to staff whose role does not include a computer and/or they do not own a computer at home.
