Chancellor's Medal of Excellence

The Chancellor’s Medal of Excellence was established in 2022 by UTC’s 17th Chancellor, Dr. Steven R. Angle, to commemorate his 10th year at the University and establish a means for UTC to recognize manifestations of excellence impacting the institution. The award is intended to be presented periodically, at the sole discretion of the Chancellor, to a faculty, staff, alumnus, or community member who has made extraordinary contributions to the character of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The first medals, struck in a limited quantity, were designed by Stephen Rumbaugh. They may be presented at Commencement, the State of the University, Campus Advisory Board meetings, or other events of the Chancellor’s choosing, and it is expected to be worn with academic regalia any time regalia is appropriate.
