Experiential Learning takes students beyond their classrooms to connect theory and practice through creative endeavors, intercultural experiences, leadership and service-learning opportunities, internships, and research.

Think Achieve: Beyond the Classroom is the platform for supporting experiential learning here at UTC. Our students participate in and reflect on some of the most remarkable experience offered at UTC, in the Chattanooga area, and around the world!

As students participate and reflect, they gain points toward university awards and recognition while simultaneously acquiring vital experience for life.

The Beyond the Classroom Challenge is a way for students to jump into a broad variety of FREE campus and community events, learning more about UTC, Chattanooga, and themselves—all based on their own schedules and interests.
Many faculty take learning beyond traditional classrooms and lectures to include real-world experiences. Take one of over 150 designated BTC courses or learn more about how to have your course considered for designation.
The growing list of over 150 designated courses and experiences all have a mentored experiential learning component, adding application to a student's understanding of their discipline and promoting learning by creating new Designated Experiences (beyond the classroom).
Throughout students' undergraduate academic careers and time with ThinkAchieve, they have opportunity to earn points toward graduate recognition. ThinkAchieve Graduates earn University recognized distinction at many levels.
Students can propose a community-focused project as a point-earning opportunity. Examples of this could include serving a campus organization, off-campus service or other experiences that includes critical thinking and reflection.
